If you know me, you know I love limited edition anything and I’m one of those people who play right into the marketing of makeup being advertised with the words limited edition because I get this overwhelming panic and desire to HAVE to buy it because it won’t be around forever or it could sell out sort of feelings. Very common for a makeup junkie like myself!
Lately, I’ve been pretty good when it comes to not purchasing things that I know I already have 20 of, but then I was basically suckered into flashy packaging and Unicorns. Yes, Unicorns are having a moment- like to the point now of being TOO MUCH.
With that being said, I’m sure you can guess what made me purchase Tarte’s Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette – it was the Unicorn theme and brightly colored shimmer shadows that I saw in a sneak peek! My favorite formula is shimmer or foiled shadows and these are exactly what I look for in a shadow, plus they were fun colors!
I really enjoy this palette – I have used it quite a bit and the pigmentation is crazy good! I prefer to put it on with my fingers and then blend with a brush, but love all the colors. PLUS, it smells good, too!
On a side note – I must mention the fabulous customer service of Tarte, while I’m at it. My first palette came slightly broken – one of the pans had popped out! It wasn’t a huge deal and I debated about even saying anything, but I had literally just got it. They responded super fast and were nice enough to send me an entire new palette FAST – like in two days FAST! Gold star, Tarte!
Lorac’s Pirates of the Caribbean palette coincides with the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie release coming pretty soon! I never got into the series and so slapping the Pirates name onto this palette wouldn’t be a big enough factor to purchase this palette, nor was I particularly excited about the packaging – it was the selection of colors inside! Despite having a lot of fall out, I’m a fan of the Lorac eyeshadow formula.
Let’s stop chit chatting and show some swatches…
I enjoy the color shade of this palette and am pleased that I purchased it. The issues I have with it besides causing some fallout – is the packaging. It’s quite bulky and annoying, and while I am normally one to appreciate fun packaging, this is just…too much. I couldn’t really see traveling with this palette..although…they created a secret compartment for the blush palette (yes, I bought that, too) – but still. I even had trouble keeping the top of it open when I was getting ready for work! Makes things a bit of a hassle.
Do any of these call to you? Have you bought one already? If so, what do you think?
