Excuse me while I get a little nostalgic. I’ve got the travel bug and it never seems to go away. In my early 20’s, I did a lot of traveling, all before I had kids. I hit up Italy, London, the Bahamas, and stuck closer to home by going to California, Utah, Texas, and New York. I have soooooooo many amazing memories from those trips, but now that I’m a full fledged adult in charge of two other humans, my traveling has been reduced to mostly state wide and less frequent due to lack of time, funds, you know…the usual. I may sound like Debbie Downer, but I’m not. Traveling with kids is a whole new ball game, and a whole new joy that going on vacations with your friends can’t provide. Just like a lot of things in life there are ups and downs to everything, so I thought I’d share both sides to traveling with kids!
HATE: I feel like you need to be extra prepared when you take the kids with you. Not only are you packing for yourself, but you are also packing other people and isn’t packing for vacation stressful enough? I always, always, always think in my head, right before a vacation, that I’m going to finally utilize the convenience of a checklist, but every single time, I never do. I don’t know, I’m weird like that.
LOVE: There is something super fun about going on a mini shopping spree for you and the family when you know you are going on vacation. It might just be me, but something about folding brand new, never been worn clothes into your suitcase is oddly enjoyable.
HATE: Just because we’re on vacation doesn’t mean sickness is. Have you been on vacation where you or someone else has been sick?
LOVE: I’m thankful that when sick gets real the pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare are there with three solutions – Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin® and Children’s Dimetapp® – to tackle the ickiest of symptoms for my kids. Ease those aches and pains, while reducing a child’s fever fast with Children’s Advil®*, a great solution for kids as young as 2 and up to 11. Children’s Advil® comes in several great-tasting flavors, including: Sugar-free Dye-free Berry, Bubble Gum, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and Dye-Free White Grape flavors. There’s also Infants’ Advil® White Grape, which provides unsurpassed fever relief (among OTC pain relievers) with a syringe for easy dosing for children 6-23 months.
Children’s Advil® Suspension, Grape
Children’s Robitussin® Extended-Release 12 Hour Cough Relief
Children’s Dimetapp® Multi-Symptom Cold Relief Dye-Free
LOVE: Being with your family, however big, and creating memories that hopefully last forever.
HATE: Being with your family = more bodies. More bodies = more money. Things add up very quickly and while you shouldn’t put a price on memories, sometimes it’s just reallllllllllllllllly hard.
This Summer we unfortunately don’t have anything set in stone for traveling as a family. We’re doing smaller trips to visit family, but otherwise life is sort of hectic and finding time to do anything has been hard.
