1. I went an entire day without sugar!
How did it go? Well, I had a near meltdown at work and left early. Okay, maybe it wasn’t because of the chocolate deprivation but I really did go a whole day and that’s a start for me! I’m working on having sugar in moderation first, and then seeing how that goes. Sugar is my only vice in life – besides a slight makeup obsession. With this new goal in sight, I know that it’s already going to be hard, but extra hard because I love to bake, especially around the holidays and cookies are my favorite thing in the entire world.
2. I am a bridesmaid!
I was asked by one of my dearest, and longest friends (she’s my cousin!), if I’d be one of her bridesmaids in her wedding next September, and not only was I surprised, but overwhelmed with honor. At this point, I feel so far away from everyone, that I just assumed I’d always be a guest – which is okay too, so it’s exciting that I am able to be part of her special day in this way. There are not many weddings I feel a strong emotional connection over, but this is one of them.
Truman had such a fun time this year! He really got into and we ended up meeting up with a friend and her kids to hit up their neighborhood! It was quite cold, but with all the running around, and the nice stash of candy was always a blast! T went as a Mummy, and we dressed up H as Baby Pubert from the Addams Family Values movie! It was pretty hard to get the mustache to stay put but you get the idea!
4. I cut back on taking medicine
I recently was reading a magazine, either Redbook or Good Housekeeping about (in so many words) how when you take so much headache medicine that once it wears off, your headache returns because it’s essentially addicted. I knew that was what was happening to me, because after a couple hours my headache would return and I would just continue to take medicine. This entire week I stopped doing that and noticed immediate results! Less headaches! In general, I am working on improving myself, mentally and physically, so little things like this help.
5. School pictures came back
I don’t know if any other parent felt the same way when you get your first school photo ever, but for me it was sort of this shocking reminder that I have an almost 5 year old child. IT IS STILL SO STRANGE! I look at the person in the photo and get all sorts of emotional – he’s so grown up! I was so happy with how his photos turned out!
How was your week? Tell me something that happened!
